  2. Slice pastry lengthwise and roll up. Glaze with egg. Cut diagonal slits. Bake for about 20 mins until golden brown.

It was easy to prepare, easy to cut, and tasted great. My inspiration came from admiring at all the fantastic looking breakfast casseroles on Pillsbury's website. The bread rolls are stuffed with sausage and cheese and, optionally, rolled in bread crumbs before going into the oven. Served hot while the cheese is still soft and gooey, these sausage and cheese bread rolls are just perfect for a mid-afternoon snack. Line the bottom of the prepared baking dish with crescent roll dough, and sprinkle with crumbled sausage.
