The ingredients needed to make Suji idli:
  1. Make ready 1 cup rava / semolina
  2. Get 1 cup curd / yogurt
  3. Prepare 1/2 tsp salt
  4. Take 1/4 cup water
  5. Prepare 1/4 tsp eno fruit salt or pinch of baking soda

Recently I started making Instant plain rava idli (suji ki idli) without any seasoning for the sake of Raksha. This instant suji idli is a simple and quick version of our usual rava idli (semolina idli). Pour the batter into idli moulds, place them in the steamer and steam for twenty minutes on medium heat or till done. Take a microwave idli container and grease it with some oil.

Steps to make Suji idli:
  1. Take a large kadai roast 1 cup Suji for 5 minutes or till it turns aromatic. - allow it to cool completely, and transfer roasted suji to a mixing bowl. - add in 1 cup curd, ½ tsp salt and combine well without forming any lumps. - allow to rest for 20 minutes. sooji absorbs water.
  2. Now again add 1/2cup water or as required to prepare idli batter consistency. - just before steaming the idlis, add in ¼ tsp eno fruit salt or pinch of baking soda and give a gentle mix. - pour the batter immediately onto greased idli plate. - steam them on medium flame for 15 to 20 minutes or till the idli are cooked completely.
  3. Your Soft Sooji idli is ready to serve…Serve it with coconut chutney.
