  8. Get 1/3 cup Water
  9. Make ready 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
  10. Prepare 1 pinch Saffron plus extra for garnish
  11. Prepare 3 tbsp Milk
  12. Make ready 1 tsp Cornflour
  13. Get 3 tbsp Milk
  14. Make ready 4-5 tsp Sweetner of your choice (I had used agave nectar)
  15. Get 600 ml Milk (dairy or non dairy)

Thandai is a very refreshing spicy cold drink with aromatic flavors; main ingredients are almond, milk, sugar and some spices.   3. Heat the milk and add the saffron milk to it along with the paste. Stir well and simmer on low heat for 5 – 7 minutes. Stir every now and then.
  4. Mix the cornflour well in the remaining three tablespoons milk and add gradually to the simmering milk, stirring all the while.
  5. Add cardamom powder and simmer further for a minute. Switch off the heat and add sweetener of your choice. Serve hot and enjoy!
  6. NOTE - You can sieve the milk before serving or you can serve it as it is.
  7. Note - If you like the milk frothy, you can whisk it using a hand whisk or an electric mixer or perhaps an immersion blender.
  8. Pour in serving glasses and garnish with finely chopped pistachios and slivered almonds and a few threads of saffron (garnish is optional)

This cold drink is made mainly with milk and almond. Thandai sherbet or drink is made mostly during Holi Festival and Maha Shivratri. Generally for Holi bhang is also added to the thandai towards the Northern parts of India. Thandai recipe is the perfect drink for the festive occasion of Holi and Shivratri. What is Thandai. 'Thand' in Hindi means cold, and therefore thandai refers to 'a refreshing drink that has a cooling effect.'
