  15. Get 5-6 curry leaves

The majority of the chutneys made in my family use chana dalia (roasted split chickpeas) to give the chutney body, but you can sub in blanched almonds or.   1. Let’s take fresh coconut in a blender. Add roasted gram dal, coriander leaves, mint leaves,ginger,garlic,green chillies,tamarind,salt and 1 cup of water.
  2. Blend smooth and make a fine paste. Coconut chutney is ready.
  3. For Tadka- Let’s heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, red dry chilli, curry leaves and sauté for a while. Put this Tadka on prepared chutney and mix it well. Consistency should be flowing. Enjoy the coco chutney😋

Making south Indian coconut chutney for dosa and idli is very simple; just blend fresh coconut with chillies, curd and ginger and mix tempered mustard seeds. However, the real taste differentiators in this recipe are roasted chana dal, tamarind paste, cumin seeds and curry leaves. For Tempering: Heat ghee and urad dal in a small skillet over medium-high heat. Once dal is lightly toasted, add mustard seeds and asafetida and fry until seeds begin to pop. Pour entire mixture over chutney and serve immediately.
