Mango rice is just one style of South Indian rice dishes among many different variations. Mango rice has a very unique flavor due to the tartness of the mangoes, the sweetness of the coconut, and the heat of the chilies all being mixed together.

  2. Make ready 1¹/² tbsp Oil

  5. Prepare 1 tsp Urad Dal
  6. Prepare 5-6 Curry leaves
  7. Make ready 2 Green chillies slit

  10. Get 2 Dry red chilli
  11. Get 1 cup raw mango
  12. Make ready to taste Salt

This recipe is almost similar to the lemon rice or the coconut rice which most of us make at home. The flavoring and the actual taste in this mango rice comes from cooking the mango in oil thoroughly. Mango Sticky Rice is sweetened sticky rice with fresh mangoes. This dessert is very popular in Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Steps to make Mango rice:
  1. First cook the rice. Keep it aside to cool down slightly.(You can use leftover cooked rice as well)
  2. Meanwhile wash and peel the raw mango. Grate it.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan on medium heat. Once hot add mustard seeds. Let them pop.
  4. Then add chana dal and peanuts. Roast them with stirring constantly till they become brown in colour.
  5. Then add urad dal and roast it till light brown.
  6. Add dry red chillies and curry leaves. Fry it for 15 seconds
  7. Add ginger paste and green chillies. Saute for 30 seconds.
  8. Then add hing.
  9. Immediately add grated mango and salt. Mix it and cook it for 2 minutes.
  10. Then add cooked rice. Mix it very gently so rice grains don’t break. Mix it till everything get incorporated well.Cook it for 2-3 minutes.
  11. Then turn off the stove & your Mango rice is ready.

Mango sticky rice is made with coconut milk, sugar, salt and mango cubes. The combination of mango and sticky rice are so delicious!
