The gushing Bhagirathi which runs through seems to divide the district into two, while the Bhilangna, Alaknanda, Ganga and Yamuna rivers border it on the east and west. New Tehri is a city and a municipal board in Tehri Garhwal District in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

The ingredients needed to make Tehri:
  1. Take 1 cup basmati rice soaked
  2. Prepare 1 cup chopped vegetables seasonal (potatoes, peas,cauliflower)
  3. Get 1 onion chopped
  4. Get 2 tomato chopped
  5. Get 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  6. Take 2 green chilli chopped
  7. Get 2 tbsp desi ghee
  8. Take 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  9. Make ready 1 pinch Asafoetida
  10. Take to taste Salt
  11. Take 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  12. Make ready 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  13. Get 1 tsp garam masala powder
  14. Get 4 cloves
  15. Prepare 4-6 black pepper
  16. Get 1 inch cinnamon sticks
  17. Take 1 bay leaf

Cut the vegetables and keep them ready. Once the chunks are soaked well and becomes soft, then squeeze out the excess water by pressing in the fist and keep aside. Tehri dam is the highest dam in India and one among the highest in the word. Water out flow from dam is through the tunnels built inside mountains so the water outflow from dam cannot be seen.

Instructions to make Tehri:
  1. Wash and soak basmati rice for 15 minutes
  2. Wash and chopped all vegetables and keep a side
  3. In a pressure cooker add desi ghee when hot add Asafoetida and cumin seeds when cracked add whole garam masala like bay leaf, cinnamon sticks, black pepper, cloves stir 1 minutes
  4. Now add chopped onion,ginger garlic paste and green chilli stir it 2 minutes now add chopped vegetables and tomato, peas stir again cover 2min add spices mix properly
  5. Now add 2 cup water and soaked rice into pressure cooker and cover with lid and whistle 1
  6. Now open lid and serve hot garnish with garam masala powder and enjoy it with green chutney
