However off late, because of Pumpkin cakes and this Pumpkin Halwa, am open to the idea of a dessert with Pumpkin. This Payasam is quite easy to make and the cooking time is less in comparison to Parippu Payasam. I always use Coconut Milk Powder for all my cooking and that makes Payasam making kinda super easy.
Steps to make Pumpkin Payasam:
- Rost the dry fruits with 1 tsp of ghee for 5 minutes then Crushed roughly
- Crushed like this
- Add remaining ghee in that pan and add pumpkin puree and cook for 8-10 minutes on low flame
- Add milk and vermicelli cook for 5 minutes and then add sugar..now cook for 10-12 minutes
- Now add dry fruits and switch off the gas then add Cardamom powder
- Garnish with chopped pistachios and Serve hot
The payasam tasted so creamy and yum and it tasted just like the carrot kheer. Later i felt, i should have made the pumpkin payasam with jaggery as how i did for carrot payasam. As pumpkins are available in the market so easily now a days, try this kheer for the festival season and celebrate the joy of festivity.
